SEWARD, Neb. – The Concordia University golf program has announced a 2016-17 recruiting class of seven members. The group includes five men and two women. Four of the seven come from the state of Nebraska and one apiece hail from the states of Illinois, Iowa and Texas (see complete class at bottom).
"I am extremely excited about this year’s recruiting classes,” said fifth-year head coach Brett Muller. “This class will definitely add depth to our program and have the opportunity to take Concordia golf to the next level. I look for these student-athletes to excel on the course and in the classroom."
Several individuals will bring impressive credentials to Muller’s golf programs. Murphy Sears of Crete High School has starred as one of the top female golfers in the state of Nebraska. She placed in the top five of last year’s state tournament. On the boy’s side, Tyler Knoepfel (Fremont) and Tylar Samek (David City) were top 15 finishers in the state of Nebraska. Meanwhile, Robert (Trey) Shoemake of Dallas, Texas, is a first team all-district performer. Tyler Knoepfel is the younger brother of current Bulldog golfer Jared Knoepfel.
During this past fall season, both of Muller’s squads broke program records for lowest single-round score. The Bulldogs resume action this spring.
