Academic Sessions

topic description
Recycling with Ruminants

Ruminants are the ultimate recyclers, turning things that would otherwise go to waste into delicious milk and meat.  Learn about key feeds that are used in livestock diets and how they can provide the nutrients that animals need.  Then formulate and eat your own diet!

Mathematical Modeling with Excel In this class we'll solve some real-world math problems using the spreadsheet Excel. We will talk about how to use data, create graphs and design simulations. The class is based on a textbook written by the instructor.
Spark to Story: A 3-day Writing Retreat

In this progressive workshop, students will develop a long-form writing project from idea to polished piece. Whether they choose fiction, memoir, or creative nonfiction, writers will learn how to generate strong ideas, build structure, and revise with purpose. By the end of camp, each student will leave with a meaningful piece of writing—and the confidence to keep going.

Lead Your Story: Building Leadership Skills & a Powerful Digital Identity

In this interactive 90-minute workshop, students will explore what it means to be a leader in today’s digital world and how their online presence can reflect their values, character, and goals. Through hands-on activities and guided reflection, participants will begin crafting a positive digital identity while learning practical leadership skills such as communication, integrity, and responsible decision-making. By grounding leadership and digital identity in Christian values, participants will be inspired to use their gifts to serve others with purpose and faith.

Into the Micro-verse: Adventures Through the Microscope

Navigate the micro-verse as we learn more about the realm of God's creation that is invisible to the naked eye, using microscopes to see living organisms that are all around us. We will look across the biosphere, observing bacteria, protists, fungi, and more! Campers will even take home a piece of the microscopic world with them.

DNA Extraction

In my progressive lab, students will explore what DNA is, where it is found in cells, and apply their learning to a strawberry, banana, raspberry, and kiwi DNA extraction lab. The lesson will connect classroom learning to real-world experiences.

Archery

In this three-day session, students will be introduced to international-style target archery. Using steps from the National Archery in Schools Program, these hands-on sessions give students the opportunity to practice target in a way that enhances focus and self-confidence.

Be the Hero: First Responder Training

Students will learn real-life emergency skills including hands-only CPR, AED use, and
bleeding control techniques such as tourniquet application. Each day builds on the last as
participants practice with professional training equipment and work through realistic
emergency scenarios as a team. By the end of the workshop, students will feel confident,
prepared, and empowered to step up and help others when seconds truly matter.
