Many of our graduate students who work in education take advantage of this model by doubling up on courses during the summer months.

Experience in the field: Spend six weeks observing and reviewing a small group in a PK–12 school under the leadership of a professional school counselor.

Practicum: Gain direct counseling experience and build your confidence and skill over the course of a 100-hour practicum. You’ll help students in a PK–12 school setting supervised by a licensed professional school counselor.

Internship experience: Gain comprehensive school counseling experience through 450 hours of supervised internships. Complete 225 hours at the PK–6 grade level and 225 hours at the 7–12 grade level. Internships provide you firsthand experience working with primary and secondary education populations.

Portfolio creation: The capstone course for our master’s in school counseling online program involves compiling a comprehensive, digital portfolio highlighting skills, knowledge and professional experience. We strive to set you up for maximal success in the job market.
