No. 3 seed CUNE Men’s Soccer reigns as the 2025 GPAC tournament champions. After starting the season 2-6, the uncommon Bulldogs finish with a 2-1 triumph over No. 4 seed Morningside to take the conference playoff title.
The Bulldogs have earned their sixth GPAC final appearance under Head Coach Jason Weides as they will clash against No. 4 seed Morningside for the chance to clinch the lone automatic NAIA national qualifying bid in the GPAC.
Knotted at two scores apiece, Ricards Busmeisters smashed in a game-winning penalty kick in the 84th minute and closed the 2025 book on seventh-seeded Briar Cliff (3-2) on Friday.
Inigo Chavarria has done it again. The Jaca, Spain native was awarded the GPAC Defensive Player of the Week as announced by the league office on Tuesday He helped the Bulldogs to a 2-0 week.
The GPAC playoff started off like the wild west with the No. 1 and 2 seeds falling in the quarterfinals and three of the four games needing extra time. The No. 3 seed Bulldogs needed a golden goal to finish past No. 6 Hastings.
The electric Hugo Garrote struck the match that would fire off a celebration in front of Bulldog nation after his golden goal free kick ended the GPAC quarterfinal bout (1-0) versus Hastings on Saturday.
With the Bulldogs earning the third seed in the GPAC tournament, the Seward side will welcome sixth-seeded Hastings to Bulldog Stadium on Saturday night. It will be an all-out brawl to move on to the semifinal.
After conceding a 2-0 lead, the Bulldogs showed grit in responding for a 3-2 home win over Doane on Wednesday (Oct. 29). The result put Concordia in third place to cap the regular season.
Goalkeeper Inigo Chavarria was announced as the GPAC Defensive Player of the Week by the league office on Tuesday (Oct. 28). Chavarria helped lead to a shutout of Dordt.
CUNE Men’s Soccer is in its final week of regular season play hosting in-state rival Doane for the last contest of the scheduled slate. The Bulldogs defeated Dordt on Saturday and have won four of their last five matches.
