Morgan (Bowman) Grindey ‘23 serves Concordia University, Nebraska as assistant director of student life with an emphasis on student engagement. A recent Concordia Nebraska graduate, she has a bachelor’s degree in elementary and special education.

“I seriously love every part of my job. My favorite part is connecting with students and getting to know them on a deeper level,” she said. “I love learning about their individual strengths and helping them find the places within campus where they thrive.”

Grindey is responsible for a variety of tasks including engaging with students and making sure those students have outlets for engagement within the university community.

“Community is crucial at Concordia. Our big community is made up of lots of smaller outlets that are more specific to student’s individual God-given gifts, interests and vocations,” she said. “In my position, I have the opportunity to assist students in finding where they fit in within campus, plan events that support their interests and support students in their own efforts to create community as well.”

Concordia is a gift. It is a place of love and genuine care. The mission here is so clear. It is an honor to be a part of the Bulldog family!

Grindey oversees the university Student Activities Council, collaborates with several departments on campus, meets with student senate officers and works heavily with the residence hall staff.

“Concordia Nebraska is such a special place, because everyone here is ultimately here to serve Jesus,” she said. “It is so evident that this university is grounded in Christ. Coming to work does not just mean sitting in an office and marking off tasks, it means joining together with fellow brothers and sisters in Christ to work together to accomplish the big picture task of fulfilling vocations and creating disciples. We are one big family here. Loving accountability is huge here! There are so many opportunities to grow in one’s faith. Not only is chapel offered daily, but faculty and staff are encouraged to attend daily. My team meets weekly for devotion, prayer is present throughout the day and in meetings and spiritual wellness is taken seriously. It is a blessing to be a part of something so wonderful.”

This summer, Morgan wed Michael Grindey ’24 who she met at the university.

Simply put, she said she loves her job and loves the university.

“Concordia is a gift. It is a place of love and genuine care,” she said. “The mission here is so clear. It is an honor to be a part of the Bulldog family!”

Concordia Nebraska has a rich and inspiring history of providing Christ-centered academic excellence through more than 70 academic programs. Each one is focused upon equipping students for faithful service in their families, churches, communities, workplaces, and beyond. Dedicated faculty work closely with students, embracing the call to teach and mentor, striving to help each student prepare for a life of learning, service, and leadership. All of this happens in the context of a distinctly Lutheran community, one where students are known and valued, where they are guided in achieving goals for their future, and where they are encouraged and inspired by classmates with shared passions and interests. Given such a legacy, today Concordia continues to lean into what it does best: nurturing deep, authentic and Christ-centered academic communities that inspire and equip students for what God has in store for them.
