Dr. Amy Burnett to speak as part of the 500th Reformation Anniversary Celebration

Dr. Amy Burnett will be presenting “The Reformation and Women’s Place in the Sixteenth Century” as part of the 500th Reformation Anniversary Lecture Series at 7 p.m. on Feb. 20, 2017, in the Weller Chapel Auditorium on the campus of Concordia University, Nebraska.

Dr. Burnett is a professor of history at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and serves as a specialist in early modern European history. Burnett teaches a variety of history courses including world history, western civilization to 1715, history of Christianity, and Italian Renaissance. She received a College Award for Distinguished Teaching in 1999 and was inducted into UNL’s Academy of Distinguished Teachers in 2007.

Burnett holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Wisconsin where she graduated with academic distinction. She went on to earn her Master of Arts and Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin in 1984 and 1989, respectively.

Amy is also the co-editor of “The Companion to the Swiss Reformation”, and the author of “Karlstadt and the Origins of the Eucharistic Controversy.” Her book, “Teaching the Reformation” was awarded the Gerald Strauss Prize of the Sixteenth Century Society and Conference. She has also published numerous essays and articles on the early Reformed tradition.
