The Marxhausen Gallery of Art at Concordia University, Nebraska recently released the lineup of its scheduled art exhibitions for the academic year beginning in Fall 2023. The gallery, located on Concordia’s campus in Jesse Hall, features exhibitions each year from students and professional artists.

The gallery’s current exhibit features numerous illustrations by William Joyce, a prolific children’s author. “William Joyce was born in Shreveport, Louisiana, where he fell in love with classic books as a child. Joyce studied film in college, and went into children’s illustration upon graduation, publishing his first self-illustrated work, George Shrinks. His love of film led him next to become a producer and production designer for Blue Sky, after his work George Shrinks was televised. Joyce continues to combine storytelling, drawing, and animation in his picture books and his film series,” Concordia professor Jim Bockelman wrote in his description of the exhibit.

If students, faculty or community members wish to view the works on display at the Marxhausen Gallery of Art on their own, the gallery is open from Monday to Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. Admission is free.
