Marxhausen Gallery of Art announces 2024-25 schedule
The Marxhausen Gallery of Art at Concordia University, Nebraska recently released the lineup of its scheduled art exhibitions for the academic year beginning in Fall 2024. The gallery, located on Concordia’s campus in Jesse Hall, features exhibitions each year from students and professional artists.
The current exhibit at the gallery, “Good Company: Children’s Book Illustrations” features illustrations from books in the personal collection of Concordia’s Director of Literacy Events and Resources, Dr. Dylan Teut, and is on display through October 11.
This year, the Marxhausen Gallery of Art will be closed for renovations from November 23 through December 12.
If students, faculty or community members wish to view the works on display at the Marxhausen Gallery of Art on their own, the gallery is open from Monday to Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. Admission is free.

September 2-October 11
This exhibition’s opening reception will take place on September 22 from 1-4 p.m. with a gallery talk at 2 p.m.
“Georges Rouault: Seeing Christ in the Darkness”
October 14-November 23
This exhibition’s opening reception will take place on October 31 with a gallery talk at 6:30 p.m.
“Classicism, Myth, and the Modern Spirit:” Permanent Collection
January 13-February 14
This exhibition’s opening reception will take place on January 30 with a gallery talk at 6:30 p.m. A symposium will be held in Thom Auditorium on February 6 from 6:30-8 p.m.
Faculty Biennale Exhibition
February 17-March 28
This exhibition’s opening reception will take place on February 23 from 1-4 p.m., with a gallery talk at 2 p.m.
BFA Thesis Exhibition
March 31-April 13
This exhibition’s opening reception will take place on April 6 from 1-4 p.m., with a gallery talk at 2 p.m.
Annual Juried Art Student Show
April 22-May 7
This exhibition’s opening reception will take place on April 27 from 1-4 p.m. with an awards presentation at 2 p.m.
The Marxhausen Gallery of Art at Concordia University, Nebraska, named after Reinhold Marxhausen, hosts a wide variety of exhibitions, performances, screenings, and conversations throughout the year that aim to bring Concordia’s campus art community and local residents together.
