Meet adjunct professor of business Christopher Rutt
Christopher Rutt serves Concordia University, Nebraska as an adjunct professor of business. He teaches an introduction to human resources class.
He said his favorite thing about teaching at the university is having the opportunity to work with young professionals and give them insights into what the world looks like in human resources as they prepare to serve others.
“Concordia Nebraska is a special place to work, because values and faith are woven into the DNA of the university,” he said. “We have great kids here that are professional and eager to learn.”
Out of my more than 20 years in operations, human resources and finance, I find my role at Concordia Nebraska the most rewarding, both spiritually and professionally thanks to the university’s staff and students.
Rutt and his wife Bethany have three children: Mason, Riley and Emery. The Rutts are very involved in their church and love to camp and travel. When he’s not working or teaching, Rutt loves collecting and working on vintage vehicles.
He said his work at Concordia Nebraska has also helped to strengthen and develop his faith.
“It has helped me understand how to connect and use your faith in the private sector to help guide decisions and options,” he explained. “There is always an easy way to do things, but that isn't always the best way.”
Rutt serves full time as the chief operating officer at Eagle Distributing. He has a bachelor of science degree in human resource management and an MBA from Bellevue University. He has a black belt in Lean Six Sigma, a managerial approach that aims to improve performance by reducing waste and defects in business. He is also a Society for Human Resource Management certified professional.
