Student Acts 2 Commission hosts Black History Month events
In observance of Black History Month, Concordia’s Acts 2 Student Commission is hosting a series of events aimed at raising awareness within the campus community.
“The theme for Black History Month 2022 is Black Health and Wellness,” said the commission, “and we want to take this time as an opportunity to intentionally inform students, faculty and the community on the importance of Black History in our own country how it has even affected the rest of the world especially in the health and wellness fields.”
The commission will host an activity table in Janzow Campus Center on Feb. 9 and Feb. 16 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., to help raise awareness on multiple topics. On Feb. 9, there will be coloring pages with information about Black History Month, and on Feb. 16, commission members will share about the art of stepping and freedom quilts.
On Thursday, Feb. 24 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., the commission will host an open mic and mini-museum night in Cattle Conference Room, providing students an opportunity to share their poetry and musical talents with the campus community.
