The Best Way to Share the Gospel

Our job as Christians is to share the Gospel, so why wouldn't I try to find the best way I could share it?

The best way to share the Gospel is not always through teaching or becoming a pastor. This is not often something we explore, especially at a university with so many opportunities for church work. Church work is something Emma Van Tol has always been interested in, but she has not always been sure about how to get involved in it. “I have a lot of family members that are church workers, so it’s kind of in my blood.”

“When I told people that I wanted to work in the church, I would often be met with the idea that I should teach, but I don’t see it that way,” Emma said emphatically. She found that the best way to use the gifts that God had already given her was to major in business. “I have a love for theology and doctrine, but I also love business and numbers. Our job as Christians is to share the Gospel, so why wouldn’t I try to find the best way to share it?”

Emma wanted to find a college that would support her in her faith before she went out into the world, and Concordia was that place. “We’re Christians and we have that thing in common which kind of pulls us together. Concordia is a great place to prepare to work in the world, because it gives you a solid Christian community to come back to. This fact is made visible in worship. There’s nothing quite like gathering together with people to learn more about God.”

The clear emphasis on growth at Concordia influenced Emma’s decision. “It seems like everything is always growing and changing here. The facilities are always improving, and the professors take great care in growing their students. You just have to experience it for yourself.”
