Rebekah Freed has served at Concordia University, Nebraska since 2019 on the Student Life and Campus Ministry teams. In her first six years as the Director of Student life, she provided Christ-centered leadership on campus with a focus on relational ministry among the students, supporting student life and residence hall staff and coordinating with other departments to facilitate a life-impacting experience for all students and advance Concordia's mission. Over the next couple years, she will be transitioning into a new Campus DCE (Director of Christian Education) role serving alongside the Campus Pastor while also still supporting the Student Life Office as the housing coordinator.  

Freed grew up in Wichita, Kansas, before attending Concordia Nebraska to get a degree in psychology and behavioral science in the DCE program. After serving 9 years in congregational ministry near Buffalo, New York, she returned to work at Concordia. She has a master's degree from Liberty University focused on discipleship ministry in the context of crisis and trauma. She also received professional certification from Florida State University in college student wellbeing, trauma and resilience.   

Freed is a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Lincoln, Nebraska, where she helps lead music in worship and is involved in foster care ministry. She is an author, leads retreats and speaks at conferences around the country for youth and adults. Rebekah enjoys hiking, kayaking, reading, spending time with family and friends, reading and having friends or students over to her house.  

Freed loves working at Concordia because the students are amazing. They give her hope for the future of our church and world. They are creative, faith-filled, innovative and on mission! She finds it a joy to serve and walk alongside them through this transformational season of their lives while serving with incredible teammates.
