Financial Aid Process
Yes, we're a private university. However, through scholarships and other financial aid, our students pay close to, or in some cases, less than students at larger public Midwest universities. Each and every one of our full-time undergraduate students receives financial aid, which can be hard to find at public institutions.

Anytime - Make a campus visit
Spring of High School Junior Year - Take ACT or SAT
Summer before senior year - Apply to Concordia
October to April – Create a studentaid.gov account/password and file your FAFSA online
December to May - Receive financial aid offer
Accepted Students
- Submit Your Enrollment Fee
This will secure your financial aid, hold your spot as a confirmed incoming student and start the final enrollment processes.
Confirmed Students
In order to ensure your July billing statement is accurate, complete the following items by July 1:
- Submit Your FAFSA
If you intend to utilize federal aid, including loans, you'll need to apply for your FAFSA.- If your FAFSA was flagged for verification, a mailing will be sent to your permanent address. Please complete it as soon as possible. Contact Student Financial Services if you have questions.
- Contact your Admissions Counselor if you do not intend to utilize federal financial aid so your financial aid offer can be prepared without federal financial aid and other need-based grants.

- Federal Direct (Student) Loan Requirements
If you have applied for federal aid and have accepted any/all of your Federal Direct Loans complete the following TWO items:- Loan Entrance Counseling: Go to studentaid.gov and sign in with your student FSA ID and password. Once signed in, click on Loan Entrance Counseling under ‘Loans and Grants.’ Click on Start to the right of “I am an Undergraduate Student.”
- Master Promissory Note: Go to studentaid.gov and sign in using student FSA ID and password. Once signed in, click on Master Promissory Note (MPN) under ‘Loans and Grants.’ Click on Start to the right of “I am an Undergraduate Student.”
- Federal Direct (Parent) PLUS Loan, if pursuing and approved
The same parent must complete the following THREE items:- Pre-Approval: Go to studentaid.gov and sign in using parent FSA ID and password. Once signed in, click on PLUS Loans: Grad PLUS and Parent PLUS under ‘Loans and Grants.’ Click on Learn More to the right of “I am a Parent of a Student.” Click on Start to the right of “I am a Parent of an Undergraduate Student.”
- Master Promissory Note: Go to studentaid.gov and sign in using parent FSA ID and password. Once signed in, click on Master Promissory Note (MPN) under ‘Loans and Grants.’ Click on Start to the right of “I’m a Parent of an Undergraduate Student.”
- PLUS Loan Confirmation Statement: Go to cune.edu/loans to print the form. Then complete and return it to Student Financial Services. Visit Direct PLUS Loans for Parents for more information concerning interest rate and origination fees.
- Outside Scholarships
If you receive outside scholarships, you are required to notify the financial aid office. Complete the online form at cune.edu/financialaidoffer - Review Private Loan Options, if pursuing

Sign into the portal (portal.cune.edu). Navigate to Banner Self-Service Quick Links on the ‘New Student’ tab and click on Student Account Detail. - Determine How You Will Pay Your Bill
Ensure payment has been made, or a payment plan has been set up PRIOR to the due date.
