Bennett Jandreau serves Concordia University, Nebraska as adjunct professor of percussion. He is in his first year of service to the university. He teaches applied percussion lessons and percussion techniques and oversees the new Concordia drumline and percussion ensemble

He has a bachelor’s degree in music performance from the University of North Florida and a master’s degree in music from University of Nebraska – Lincoln.

Concordia Nebraska is a special place to work because each student is dedicated to the success of their ensembles, going above and beyond to participate in as many musical experiences as possible, even though they have busy schedules.

“My favorite thing about my job is getting to teach a wide range of percussion instruments and styles to a committed, receptive student base,” he said. “Concordia Nebraska is a special place to work because each student is dedicated to the success of their ensembles, going above and beyond to participate in as many musical experiences as possible, even though they have busy schedules.”

Jandreau is organizing a consortium to commission a new solo work by Nicole Knorr for unaccompanied vibraphone and auxiliary percussion.

“The work will be a set of miniatures that morph and dissolve through subtle transformations of musical material, creating soundscapes that mimic the ever-evolving nature of clouds,” he said. “Supersaturation is a study on transience viewed through the lens of the sky—a celebration of impermanence. The piece will be approximately five minutes and feature a handful of brief movements meant to be played attacca.”

More information about the consortium is available at https://www.nicoleknorr.com/percussion-consortium

When he’s not working, you’ll find Jandreau playing drums, playing with his cat or binge watching Netflix.

Concordia University, Nebraska’s music programs offer students rigorous preparation to glorify God in their future vocations through the study and performance of music. Through applied lessons, participation in one of the university’s outstanding ensembles or academic music pursuits, hundreds of students of any major can make great music and lifelong friendships at Concordia.
