Dr. Jason Michel has served as an adjunct instructor at Concordia University, Nebraska since 2023. He brings more than two decades of experience in public education and athletic administration, combining academic leadership with hands-on professional practice in K–12 education systems.

Dr. Michel resides in Springfield, Missouri, where he works for Springfield Public Schools as assistant district athletics and activities director, overseeing athletic and activities programs for five high schools and ten middle schools. He has served in public education since 2002, including nine years as a teacher and coach, ten years as an assistant principal and athletic director and currently in his fifth year in district-level leadership.

In addition to his work at Concordia, Dr. Michel serves as a Leadership Training Course (LTC) instructor for the Missouri Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (MIAAA), teaching 500-, 600- and 700-level courses within the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NIAAA) continuing education program. He is actively involved at both the state and national levels, serving as awards chair for the MIAAA and contributing to the NIAAA Endowment Committee and Quality Program Assessment (QPA) evaluation system as a mentor and reviewer. In 2022, he earned the Certified Master Athletic Administrator (CMAA) credential through the NIAAA.

Within Springfield Public Schools, Dr. Michel also serves as coordinator of the Bass Pro Tournament of Champions, the nation’s highest-attended high school basketball tournament, held annually at Great Southern Bank Arena on the campus of Missouri State University. He serves on the advisory board for the nonprofit organization Champions Committed to Kids, which supports children facing chronic illness or disability by providing inclusive athletic team experiences that build confidence, belonging and lifelong friendships.

Dr. Michel holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Economics from Drury University, a Master of Business Administration in Finance and a Master’s in Secondary Education Administration from Missouri State University, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Southwest Baptist University.

He and his wife have been married for 10 years and have a blended family of four children, including twin sons and a daughter who are 20 and a 17-year-old son who is a high school junior. As a family, they enjoy the outdoors, live performances in the fine arts and staying actively engaged in sports and community life.
