Professor Jerrita Staehr began her work at Concordia University-Nebraska in 2023 as the Director of Field Experience and Assistant Professor of Education. She teaches education courses, supervises student teachers, and coordinates field experience opportunities with partner schools in the area. As a graduate of Concordia-Nebraska, Staehr is pleased to have the opportunity to return to this campus community and work with the faculty to equip future educators to serve in the field.
Staehr received her undergraduate degree from Concordia University-Nebraska and her Master of Arts in Teaching from Missouri State University. She is enrolled at Concordia-Chicago in the Ph.D. program with an emphasis on Curriculum and Instruction. Staehr has over twenty years of teaching experience in Lutheran schools. She taught grades K-8 music and grades 5-8 language arts in Freistatt, Missouri. She and her family then moved to Grand Island, Nebraska, where she taught middle school language arts and coached speech teams for both the middle school and the high school. Staehr served as the principal for one year in Grand Island before moving to Rockford, Illinois, where she taught eighth-grade language arts, middle school electives, and advised the yearbook. After two years in Illinois, the Staehrs returned to Nebraska to teach in York, her husband’s hometown. They are members at Emmanuel Lutheran where Jerrita serves as the choir director and part-time organist.
Professor Staehr and her husband, Brian, have four children who share Bulldog alumni status with their parents. The Staehrs enjoy visiting national parks, exploring historical sites, and spending time with family.
