Susan Robbins holds 29 years of experience in athletic administration, currently working at her alma mater Belfast Area High School in Belfast, Maine, since 2023. Robbins has given much of her life to education-based athletics, evidence by her coaching numerous sports teams in addition to her roles in athletic administration.
As a Maine Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (MIAAA) member, Robbins is the Associate Executive Director and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Coordinator. She also chaired their Awards and Certification Committees.
Robbins has assisted with many local leagues, including the Western Maine Conference, the Triple C Conference and Campbell Football conference. Her duties across the three conferences have included president, sports liaison and site director.
In the NIAAA, Robbins is a dedicated member and has contributed in many areas. She had a stint on the Awards Committee, including a few years as chair, has taught and authored Leadership Training Courses (LTCs), is the chair of LTC 726, and has been a regular attendee at the National Athletic Directors Conference (NADC). She was recently appointed to the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Board of Directors.
Robbins has been honored for her work as a recipient of the NIAAA Bruce D. Whitehead Distinguished Service Award, MIAAA Gerry Durgin Leadership Award, the MIAAA “Robert Lahey” Athletic Director of the Year. This past Fall she was inducted into the New England New Agenda Hall of Fame.
In Robbins’ recommendation letter, MIAAA Executive Director Gerry Durgin wrote, “(Robbins) has attained an extremely high level of respect and commendations for her contributions within her league, her region, her state and nationally. Her commitment to the position and the profession is highly regarded. Susan’s name frequently comes to the forefront as a resource, a mentor, an innovator, a presenter and a dedicated athletic administrator.”
