Dr. Edward Hoffman teaches criminal justice courses at Concordia, and is the director of the online criminal justice program. Hoffman also serves as the co-faculty advisor for both the Law and Justice Club and Alpha Phi Sigma, the Criminal Justice Honor Society chapter on campus. Hoffman advises students who are interested in attending law school or who are interested in pursuing a career in law enforcement, corrections and related fields. Hoffman earned his bachelor of arts in psychology from Pepperdine University and his Juris Doctor from the University of Nebraska College of Law. Before coming to Concordia, Hoffman taught in higher education for 14 years at the undergraduate and graduate level and in addition practiced full-time as an attorney for 22 years. As a law clerk, Hoffman worked in a City Attorney’s office on both criminal and civil matters.
As a practicing attorney, before numerous courts, Hoffman:
- Litigated both criminal and civil matters.
- Acted as lead attorney at hundreds of trials where he took hundreds of cases to judgment.
- Filed multiple hundreds of lawsuits.
- Took and defended numerous depositions of parties and fact and expert witnesses.
- Engaged in multiple hundreds of motion hearing arguments.
- Mediated numerous cases to resolution.
- Executed through to full payment on multiple hundreds of judgments.
- Advised numerous clients including individuals and various legal entities such as small and large for-profit and non-profit corporations, limited liability companies, Medical Centers, Credit Unions, personal representatives and conservators and guardians.
Hoffman is a licensed attorney in Nebraska and California and a member of those State’s Bar Associations. Hoffman is a foundation board member at his church, a member of his community’s Telecommunication and Cable Advisory Board and is a Scoutmaster with the Boy Scouts of America.
