Bulldog Athletic Association Member (BAAM) Athletes of the Week

Male: Isaiah Shaddick, Soccer

A fifth-year Bulldog from Lincoln, Isaiah Shaddick played at a high level in the 2023 season opener as Concordia defeated Graceland University (Iowa), 2-1, at home. In his collegiate career, Shaddick has tallied 17 goals and 13 assists.

Female: Gabi Nordaker, Volleyball

A fourth-year student-athlete from Omaha, Gabi Nordaker starred in wins last week over Langston University (Okla.) and No. 11 MidAmerica Nazarene University (Kan.). Nordaker produced a combined 20 kills and three blocks while hitting .615. Nordaker was named an NAIA Second Team All-American last season.
 

News and notes:

BAAM luncheons are held every Tuesday at 12 p.m. CT inside the Dog House Grill, located in the Janzow Campus Center. The luncheons feature reports from head coaches who are in season at the time. For information on how to join BAAM, click HERE. It is not a requirement to be a BAAM member in order to attend the weekly luncheons.

Homecoming 2023 set for Sept. 21-24: Homecoming 2023 is quickly approaching. Festivities are set to run Sept. 21-24 with the highlights included the Concordia Athletic Hall of Fame dinner and ceremony beginning at 6 p.m. CT on Sept. 22 followed by home football versus Dakota Wesleyan at 1 p.m. on Sept. 23. Varsity volleyball will follow at 4 p.m. More information about homecoming weekend, including how to register, is available HERE. At the Hall of Fame induction ceremony, six individuals and one team will join elite company. The Hall of Fame Class of 2023 is included in a release found HERE.

Bulldog Coaches Show airs every Thursday at 5:30 p.m. CT: The Bulldog Coaches Show is underway in its ninth year of existence. The show airs live for a half hour every Thursday beginning at 5:30 p.m. CT on KTMX-FM 104.9 Max Country. The weekly feature can also be heard live via 104.9 Max Country’s website or by downloading the Max Country app. Throughout the 2023-24 season, Bulldog football, men’s and women’s basketball and volleyball contests will be aired live on Max Country. Parker Cyza serves as the host of the coaches’ show as well as the play-by-play voice for football and basketball. Frank Greene is in his ninth season calling Concordia volleyball. Concordia Sports Network: Live webcasts for most home varsity contests can be accessed by visiting https://www.cune.edu/athletics/watch-bulldogs at game time. Beginning this 2023-24 academic year, Concordia Athletics has partnered with Hudl/BlueFrame for live video streaming. Live webcast links for away contests are publicized in sport specific releases that preview action for that particular week. Scrimmages, exhibitions and junior varsity events are not broadcasted.

Volleyball

·        Current record: 3-0, 0-0 GPAC; ranked No. 4 in the NAIA coaches’ poll.

·        Notable: Ashley Keck (21 kills) and Gabi Nordaker (20 kills) combined for 41 kills this past weekend as Concordia breezed past its two opponents at the Bulldog Bash. ·        Notable: Dating back to last season, the program has won eight consecutive games against nonconference opponents. Sophomore Savannah Andrews struck for three goals during the season’s first week while Kierstynn Garner added a pair of her own. ·        Notable: The defending GPAC tournament champions got a goal apiece from Carter Hinman and Victor Menesis in the season opening victory.
