·        Notable: Concordia has pushed its win streak to 11 after taking care of business inside Friedrich Arena this past weekend. The Bulldogs defeated Briar Cliff in three sets and No. 14 Morningside in four sets. The win over the Mustangs was especially noteworthy, considering Morningside had beaten No. 15 Midland the night before and brought a five-match win streak to Seward. This past weekend, the Bulldogs’ statistical leaders were Makenna Starkey in kills (21) and blocks (eight), Ella Brueggemann in assists (41), Clara Evert in aces (six) and Lanie Brott in digs (21). Prior to first serve versus Morningside, Concordia honored four seniors: Brott, Ava Greene, Bella Hedke and Maddie Paulsen. Heading into this week, Head Coach Ben Boldt stands at 199 career wins during his tenure. ·        Notable: The Bulldogs have dropped back-to-back games to top 25 opponents. While attempting to win in Orange City, Iowa, for a second visit in a row, Concordia was tripped up, 38-24, last week by No. 21 Northwestern. Head Coach Patrick Daberkow’s squad hung within one score (24-17) in the fourth quarter before Colby Duncan and the Red Raider offense put two touchdowns on the board to slam the door shut. A touchdown apiece was scored by Camden Jensen (rush), Kaden Thompson (blocked punt return) and Adam Van Cleave (receiving). Three important offensive starters were sidelined: quarterback Gideon Stark, running back Carlos Collazo and left tackle Derek Campbell. In their absence, Jensen (quarterback) and running back Dylan Mika made their first career starts. Against the Northwestern defense, Jensen completed 15-of-26 passes for 148 yards and a touchdown and also rushed for 54 yards and a score. Mika made the most of his 10 carries, going for 81 yards with a long of 53. The Red Raiders finished with significant advantages in total offense, 522-286, and in time of possession, 40:03 to 19:57. The Concordia defense was led by 11 tackles and an interception from linebacker Drake Trent. The Bulldogs will hit the road again this Saturday and will take on Dakota Wesleyan in Mitchell, S.D.

·        Last week:

o   Won at Briar Cliff, 4-0, on Oct. 3.

·        Notable: In year one of his tenure, Head Coach Bernie Ochoa has the Bulldogs off to their first 4-0 start in conference play since the 2020 season. Concordia had a bye in the middle of last week before dominating Briar Cliff, 4-0, in Sioux City, Iowa, this past Saturday. In order, the goals were scored by Joe McCarroll (7’), Niko Nareike (9’), McCarroll (85’) again and William Preston (87’). Shots were nearly even with the Bulldogs holding a 15-14 edge (7-5 in shots on goal). At keeper, Florian Quast made five saves in nearly 88 minutes of playing time (before being relieved late by Jason Payne). A sophomore from Prestwick, Scotland, McCarroll has emerged as an attacking force having scored four goals since the start of conference play (and is the team leader with four goals this season). Preston notched his second goal of 2026. Over the first four GPAC outings, Concordia has outscored its opposition by a combined total of 11-1. With 12 points in the league standings, the Bulldogs hold an early advantage over second-place Dakota Wesleyan and Northwestern (both 3-1 in GPAC). ·        Notable: The pieces have come together in conference play as Head Coach Jason Weides’ squad remains unbeaten in league play (5-0). The Bulldogs rolled up two shutouts last week, toppling College of Saint Mary, 3-0, and Briar Cliff, 2-0. In the home matchup with CSM, the Bulldogs got a goal each from Molli Kalsbeck (30’), Abby Haynes (33’) and Joey Long (90’). At Briar Cliff, Guadulupe Sanchez scored in the 50th and 83rd minutes, pushing her team high season goal count to six (to go along with three assists). Goalkeeper Aaliyah Matthews earned credit for shutouts in both games as she tallied eight saves for the week. In conference play, Concordia has surrendered just two goals. A key player defensively has been freshman Addie Snyder (defensive mid), who assisted two of the goals versus CSM. The two opponents last week were limited to a combined 16 shots. The Bulldogs are 5-0 in conference play for the first time in program history (the 2017, 2018 and 2023 teams were each 4-0-1 after five GPAC games). The unblemished conference mark will be tested this week by Mount Marty on Wednesday and by Dakota Wesleyan on Saturday. The Lancers also sit at 5-0 in conference play.
