Quinn and Toomey voted BAAM Athletes of the Month for February 2024

SEWARD, Neb. – For their performances throughout the calendar month, standouts Jaidan Quinn of the baseball program and Mackenzie Toomey of the women’s basketball program have been recognized as the Bulldog Athletic Association Member (BAAM) Athletes of the Month for February 2024. The winners emerged from a vote conducted on Tuesday (March 12) by attendees at the BAAM luncheon. Quinn has earned this distinction for the third time in his career while Toomey has garnered her first career BAAM monthly award.

A third-year Bulldog from Bonner Springs, Kan., Quinn enjoyed a February that went unrivaled across the entire NAIA baseball world. In 11 games in February, Quinn batted .583 (21-for-36) with 20 runs, seven doubles, eight home runs, 21 RBIs, a .653 on-base percentage and 1.444 slugging percentage. He was named both the GPAC and NAIA National Player of the Week on Feb. 27. In a stretch from Feb. 20 through March 2, Quinn homered in eight of nine games. His 13 home runs on the season lead all NAIA players. On the season, Quinn is hitting .435 (30-or-69) with 31 runs, seven doubles, 13 home runs and 33 RBIs to go along with a .543 on-base percentage and 1.101 slugging percentage. In 137 career games at Concordia, the All-American third baseman has slashed .360/.513/.845 (AVG/OBP/SLG) and has totaled 59 home runs and 163 RBIs. Quinn and the Bulldogs have begun the 2024 season at 16-5 overall heading into conference play.

A Lincoln Southeast High School graduate, Toomey ramped up her scoring in February while supplying her usual stellar defensive effort. Over nine games during the month, Toomey averaged 9.2 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.8 assists per game while shooting 46.4 percent (32-for-69) from the floor, 42.9 percent (6-for-14) from 3-point range and 68.4 percent (13-for-19) from the foul line. Toomey piled up career highs of 21 points and 13 rebounds in the win over Hastings on Feb. 21. The 5-foot-9 guard was recognized as a 2023-24 Honorable Mention All-GPAC award winner. In 116 career games, Toomey has totaled 686 points, 473 rebounds, 214 assists and 206 steals. Toomey and the seventh-ranked Bulldogs (25-6) are preparing to host Benedictine College (Kan.) in the first round of the NAIA national tournament on Friday.

BAAM Athletes of the Month are rewarded out of the pool of student-athletes that garner BAAM Athlete of the Week recognition throughout the month.
