GPAC baseball tournament schedule

SEWARD, Neb. – The Concordia University baseball program will make its seventh all-time GPAC tournament appearance and first since 2012 when the postseason gets underway on Thursday. As the No. 5 seed, the Bulldogs (26-25, 11-9 GPAC) have been placed in the pod hosted by top-seeded Midland. Second-year head coach Ryan Dupic’s squad will open up the double-elimination tournament in Fremont, Neb., at 3 p.m. on Thursday versus fourth-seeded Northwestern (22-25, 11-9 GPAC).

Concordia’s last postseason tournament victory came in 2005 via a 1-0 decision over Dana College. Since the GPAC’s first season in 2001, the Bulldogs have made visits to the conference tournament in 2001, 2004, 2005, 2010, 2011, 2012 and now 2016. Prior to this season, their best GPAC finish ever was fifth place. The Bulldogs tied with Northwestern for fourth in 2016.

One more win would give Dupic’s program a school single-season record 27 victories in 2016. The team’s 52 wins over the past two seasons are a program best over a two-year period. This year’s squad has also broken program single-season records for runs scored (368) and pitcher strikeouts (276).

The Bulldogs will play again on Friday. A win over Northwestern would place Concordia in a 12 p.m. contest. A loss would put the Bulldogs in a 3 p.m. elimination game on Friday.
