Not their day in Orange City

Coach Ryan Dupic put it simply, "They just beat us." Despite dropping a pair of games at Northwestern on Friday (April 19), the Bulldogs remain in first place with just four games left in the regular season.

  • The magic number for the Bulldogs to clinch the outright GPAC regular season title is down to three. Concordia won in blowout fashion and then in an extra inning white knuckler at Northwestern on Thursday (April 18).

  • A 16-strikeout performance versus Jamestown allowed Jason Munsch to earn the GPAC Pitcher of the Week award. The honor has gone to a Bulldog pitcher in three of the past four weeks.

May homers in loss at York

Johnny May homered for the first time this season and drove in three runs in nonconference action at York on Tuesday (April 16). The host Panthers jumped out to a big lead and won, 10-6.

  • With eight games left in GPAC regular season play, the Bulldogs own a four-game lead atop the standings following a doubleheader sweep of Morningside on Monday (April 15). Concordia moved to 18-2 in the GPAC.

  • Jason Munsch fanned 16 Jimmies in a 3-2 game one victory before the Bulldogs dropped a 14-inning marathon in game two of a Saturday doubleheader. The top two teams in the GPAC standings went head-to-head.

  • A five-day stretch this week will include seven games (six vs. GPAC) for the first place Bulldogs. Ten games remain in the conference regular season schedule as Concordia tries to protect its lead.

    Friday doubleheader moved to Monday

Due to inclement weather, the Concordia baseball program has postponed Friday (April 12)'s scheduled doubleheader versus Morningside. It will now be played at home on Monday (April 15).

  • It was a cold, it was windy and it was an 8-2 loss for Concordia. In other words, it was a forgettable night. However, freshman catcher Ben Berg managed to cut through the wind with his first career home run.

  • Two more complete game victories resulted in a second GPAC Pitcher of the Week award this season for junior Jake Fosgett. The Carlsbad, Calif., native is now 5-1 with a 3.55 ERA this season.
