Concordia will have to wait another day to claim the GPAC title outright. The Bulldogs split a doubleheader with Dordt on Friday (April 26) as part of a home four-game weekend series to end the regular season.
With the magic number at two, the Bulldog baseball team's mission for this week is to lock up a GPAC regular season title. Concordia hosts Dordt for a four-game series this Friday and Saturday.
The 2019 Bulldogs broke numerous program records, setting new standards for conference wins, home runs, pitcher strikeouts and longest winning streak. Christian Meza also continued his rise up the charts.
The 2019 Concordia baseball season came to an end on Tuesday (May 14) with a 2-1 defeat in the opening round of the national tournament. The Bulldogs finished with an overall mark of 33-20.
In its second appearance all-time on the national stage, the Concordia baseball program claimed its second national tournament win ever behind Jason Munsch before falling in the night cap.
The 2019 Concordia pitching staff has set a new standard for a program headed to the national tournament for the second time. The big season came mostly due to the development of pitchers already on the roster.
The GPAC champion Concordia baseball team has been assigned to the Henderson Bracket of the NAIA opening round. As a No. 4 seed, the Bulldogs will take on fifth-seeded Clarke at 11 a.m. on Monday (May 13).
A conference championship season resulted in a major haul of postseason awards. The All-GPAC teams were highlighted by conference player of the year Christian Meza and conference coach of the year Ryan Dupic.
While making their second appearance in three seasons at the GPAC tournament title game, the Bulldogs struggled offensively in a 3-0 loss to Jamestown. Next up is the opening round of the national tournament.
Top seeds Concordia and Jamestown are set to clash in the GPAC tournament championship game on Tuesday (May 7). Instead of meeting in Seward, the two sides will play in Yankton, S.D.
