Bulldog men look for first CIT championship since 2009

The Bulldog men’s basketball team looks to regain some momentum in this year’s Concordia Invitational Tournament.  It has been a struggle for the Bulldogs as of late.  Concordia has dropped five of its last six games, including a 102-93 setback to Doane College on Wednesday evening.  Concordia takes a 9-12 overall record into this weekend’s tournament.  The Bulldogs open CIT play against CU-Ann Arbor on Friday at 3:15.  CU-Chicago, this year’s host school, will provide a live webcast as well as live stats for all tournament games.

Last season, the Bulldogs struggled at the CIT.  Concordia took a 13-7 record into last year’s CIT but suffered losses to CU-Chicago (71-58) and CU-Wisconsin (86-66).  The Bulldogs last claimed the CIT championship in 2009.

Scouting the Cardinals – CU-Ann Arbor is 12-10 overall on the season entering the CIT.  The Cardinals bring a 3-game winning streak to Chicago.  Rocko Holmes (18 ppg) and John Schaeffer (13 ppg) lead the way offensively for a Cardinal team that averages 74 points per game on the season.

Up Next – A win against CU-Ann Arbor would advance the Bulldogs to Saturday’s CIT championship game scheduled for 7:15 p.m.  A loss would put the Bulldogs in Saturday’s consolation game at 2:15 p.m.
