A former standout on the court for the Bulldogs, Ben Limback has served as Head Men’s Basketball Coach at his alma mater for the past eight seasons. The native of Cedar Falls, Iowa, led the Bulldogs to a GPAC tournament title and an appearance in the national tournament in 2020. He’s won more than 200 games in his head coaching career.

Which athlete(s) did you idolize growing up?
Michael Jordan – our games were very similar. :)
Who are your favorite professional sports teams?
All Chicago…Bulls, Cubs and Bears.
What is the most memorable sporting event you have attended as a spectator?
Got to see Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors play in 2015 the year they broke the NBA record for wins in a season.
Which person/people were most influential in your career choice?
My dad and my high school/college coaches.
What is one book you would recommend to others in your profession?
“Lead for God’s Sake” by Todd G. Gongwer.
What’s the best coaching advice you’ve received?
Be yourself…and score more points than the other team!
What do you find most rewarding about coaching?
The relationships built along the way and the daily growth of each individual in the program.
What has changed the most about the profession since you started coaching?
The amount of money and participation in youth sports.
Beyond athletic talent and ability, what is the No. 1 trait you’re looking for in a prospective recruit?
Team player.

Being on three national tournament teams.

Hanging with my wife and kids.

Dumb and Dumber.
Where have you gone (or are planning to go) for vacation this summer?
The New England states (was supposed to be last summer) and Lake Tahoe.
