SEWARD, Neb. – Concordia University Men’s Basketball student-athlete Carter Kent has garnered Academic All-District® Team accolades for the third year in a row. Kent was officially named to the 2021-22 NAIA All-District 3 Men’s Basketball Team by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday (Feb. 17). Kent was one of six honorees in District 3, which covers colleges and universities in the states of Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, Nebraska, South Dakota and Wisconsin.
The 2021-22 Academic All-District® Men’s Basketball Teams, selected by CoSIDA, recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes football honorees in four divisions — NAIA, NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II and NCAA Division III.
Also named a 2020-21 CoSIDA Academic All-American, Kent has elevated his game to new heights in his fourth season as a Bulldog. So far this season, the Crete High School product is averaging 16.7 points, 3.3 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.26 steals per game while shooting 44.5 percent from the floor, 35.5 percent from 3-point range and 84.8 percent from the foul line. In Wednesday’s wild win over Briar Cliff, Kent moved to No. 8 on the program’s all-time scoring list with 1,595 points. His career totals also include 405 rebounds, 296 assists, 235 3-point field goals and 110 steals. As a biology major, Kent sports a spotless 4.0 grade-point average. Upon graduation, Kent will attend veterinary school.
Kent has been named a Second Team All-GPAC award winner in each of the past two seasons. He was also chosen as the 2018-19 GPAC Freshman of the Year. Kent is on track to be recognized as an NAIA Scholar-Athlete for a third time.
First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in mid-March.
