
SEWARD, Neb. – In the aftermath of leading Concordia University, Nebraska Men’s Basketball to a 3-0 week, junior guard Brooks Kissinger has been honored appropriately. On Tuesday (Jan. 6), the league office tabbed Kissinger the GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Offensive Player of the Week. The rising star has pulled in four conference weekly awards this season.
Kissinger and the Bulldogs (12-4, 6-2 GPAC) claimed wins last week over the University of St. Francis (Ill.), 89-81, Governors State University (Ill.), 83-70, and No. 17 Northwestern, 85-82. In those victories, Kissinger poured in respective point totals of 18, 23 and 29 (two shy of a career high). For the week, Kissinger made 26-of-42 (.619) shots from the floor, 3-of-7 (.429) attempts from the 3-point arc and 15-of-20 (.750) tries from the foul line. He also totaled 17 rebounds and eight assists.
On the season, Kissinger is averaging 20.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game while shooting 59.4 percent from the floor. A Business Administration major from Ashland, Neb., Kissinger has tallied 671 points in 80 career collegiate games.
Concordia will attempt to extend its four-game winning streak on Wednesday when it will be at Morningside (10-5, 7-1 GPAC) for a 7:45 p.m. CT tipoff. The two programs met in last season’s GPAC Championship Game.
