With the season on the line, the Bulldogs erased another double-digit second-half deficit and defeated Northwestern, 74-63, in the GPAC quarterfinals. Concordia won a postseason game for the first time since 2009.
A 50-point week in road wins over Midland and Jamestown led to senior Brevin Sloup being named the GPAC Player of the Week. Sloup has earned the honor twice this season.
For the first time since 2011, Concordia men's basketball will host a GPAC postseason game. Northwestern will be on hand for Wednesday's quarterfinal clash inside Walz Arena.
Faced with an 18-point deficit in the second half, the Bulldogs elevated their game and rallied for a memorable overtime win at Jamestown. Brevin Sloup scored 28 points in leading the 101-92 victory.
Standouts in the classroom and on the court, senior Tanner Shuck and sophomore Carter Kent have been named to the 2020 Academic All-District® Men's Basketball Teams by CoSIDA.
Facing a late 79-73 deficit, the Bulldogs used a 12-0 run to pull out a win at Midland, 89-83, on Wednesday (Feb. 19). Four Concordia players had 14 or more points in holding off the Warriors.
The final week of the regular season comes with the opportunity for Concordia to earn a top-four finish in the GPAC standings. The Bulldogs will be on the road for games at Midland and Jamestown.
Led by seniors Brevin Sloup and Tanner Shuck, the Bulldogs avenged their most lopsided loss this season by pummeling No. 18 Mount Marty, 98-74, on Saturday (Feb. 15). Sloup poured in a game high 29 points.
A three-game skid came to an end while the lengthy series win streak over Hastings continued. An elevated second half defensive performance and clutch play for Brevin Sloup keyed an 83-77 win.
The final two regular-season home games will both take place this week for the Bulldogs, who are happy to be back at Walz after three in a row on the road. The senior class will be recognized on Saturday.
