Trips to Honolulu and Chicago highlight the nonconference slate just announced for the 2019-20 Concordia men's basketball season. The Bulldogs will play a standard 30-game regular-season schedule (13 at home).
Brevin Sloup headlined the Omaha World-Herald All-Nebraska selections by landing on the second team. Carter Kent and Tanner Shuck were recognized as honorable mention selections.
Carter Kent has been awarded the GPAC Freshman of the Year honor, marking the second time in history a Bulldog has collected such recognition. Tanner Shuck and Brevin Sloup were also honored.
As selected by CoSIDA, junior Tanner Shuck has been voted a CoSIDA Academic All-Distrct® Men’s Basketball Team selection. Shuck is majoring in secondary education and mathematics.
The 2018-19 campaign came to an end on Wednesday (Feb. 20) with a loss at second-ranked Morningside in the GPAC quarterfinals. Sammy Adjei and Carter Kent notched 18 points apiece.
For the second time in two weeks, the Bulldogs will be at Morningside. The GPAC quarterfinal clash between the two sides will unfold in Sioux City, Iowa, on Wednesday. Concordia is the No. 8 seed.
Carter Kent scored a team high 19 points while helping the Bulldogs to an 84-79 win at Mount Marty on Saturday (Feb. 16). Concordia has kept its season alive and will be the No. 8 seed in the conference tournament.
The Bulldogs have work to do yet to secure a bid to next week's GPAC tournament. Concordia will end the regular season on Saturday with a trip to Mount Marty in hopes of avenging a defeat earlier this season.
The Bulldogs fought back valiantly from a 20-point deficit, but a first half drought proved too much to overcome. Concordia fell in its home finale, 68-63, in its final home game of the 2018-19 season.
Freshman Carter Kent dropped 19 points as a bright spot in a 79-64 loss at No. 2 Morningside on Wednesday (Feb. 6). The Bulldogs were unable to contain Mustang big man Tyler Borchers (26 points).
