After leading Concordia to two road wins over top-25 opponents, senior Chandler Folkerts was named the GPAC player of the week. Folkerts piled up a season high 32 points in the win over No. 22 Florida Memorial.
After a thrilling road trip in Miami, Concordia returns home to host defending GPAC champion Briar Cliff on Wednesday (Jan. 4). The Bulldogs enter the week ranked first nationally in 3-point shooting.
Concordia will return from Miami with two road wins over top-25 teams from The Sun Conference. The Bulldogs upset No. 21 St. Thomas University, 74-73, on Friday evening to complete a perfect road trip.
Chandler Folkerts moved up to fourth on the school's all-time scoring list while helping the Bulldogs knock off No. 22 Florida Memorial, 95-85, in Miami on Thursday (Dec. 29). Eli Ziegler and Tanner Shuck also had big games.
The layoff is finally over for the Bulldogs, who last took the court on Dec. 10. Concordia will play twice in Miami Gardens, Fla., where they will take on two nationally-ranked opponents.
The final contest before Christmas is coming up Friday at Dordt for Concordia men's basketball. The Bulldogs are looking to get back into the win column after two losses to nationally-ranked teams last week.
Career high point totals for Eli Ziegler (28) and Tanner Shuck (24) helped make for an entertaining afternoon at Walz. However, sixth-ranked Northwestern escaped with a 93-89 overtime win.
Plenty of firepower was on display on Wednesday night in Sioux City, Iowa, where 23rd-ranked Morningside held off Concordia, 92-88. Eli Ziegler put up 19 of his team high 22 points in the first half.
Concordia has been sizzling on the offensive end. The Bulldogs enter this week with momentum after scorching No. 10 Dakota Wesleyan behind a career day from senior Seth Curran.
Concordia upset No. 10 Dakota Wesleyan on Saturday and improved to 6-0 at home this season. The red-hot Bulldogs shot 62.5 percent from the field and got a career high 20 points from Seth Curran.
