Meet Info: 2024 Greeno/Dirksen Invitational

SEWARD, Neb. – Meet No. 2 of the 2024 Concordia University Cross Country season will have the Bulldogs headed to Mahoney Golf Course. The Greeno/Dirksen Invitational co-hosted by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and Nebraska Wesleyan University will get underway at 10 a.m. CT in Lincoln, Neb. This will mark the third-straight season that the Bulldogs have taken part in this meet. The 2023 Greeno/Dirksen Invite featured more than 650 total runners.

Head Coach Matt Beisel’s squads opened the ’24 campaign on Sept. 6 at the Augustana Twilight hosted by Augustana University. Overall, the Bulldog women’s team placed seventh out of 20 full squads while the men’s team placed eighth out of 28 squads. The Concordia women beat out all other GPAC/NAIA competition while the men fell behind only Doane among GPAC/NAIA opposition. The individual leaders for Concordia were Hannah Beintema (18:58.33 5k) and Trey Robertson (19:22.17 four-mile). As a result of his school record four-mile time, Robertson was named the GPAC Runner of the Week for the first time in his career.

At the 2023 Greeno/Dirksen Invite, the Bulldogs posted place finishes of fifth out of 20 on the women’s side and eighth out of 24 on the men’s side. The meet features a women’s 5k and men’s 8k. The top Concordia runners were standouts Kylahn Freiberg (18:22.37) and Calvin Rohde (25:54.88). Robertson was right on Rohde’s heels with a time of 25:57.30. As a major highlight, the Bulldog men placed above No. 25 Doane. The team champions out of the gold divisions were the Winona State University (Minn.) women and University of Nebraska-Kearney men.

After taking the weekend of Sept. 27-28 off from competition, Concordia will return to action on Oct. 5 at the Briar Cliff Invite. That meet will be held at Adams Homestead and Nature Preserve in North Sioux City, S.D.
