Challenged by strong NAIA and NCAA Division II competition, the Bulldogs turned in place finishes of fifth on the women's side and eighth on the men's side at the 2023 Greeno/Dirksen Invite. Individual leaders were Kylahn Freiberg and Calvin Rohde.
Meet No. 2 of the Concordia Cross Country season will have the Bulldogs headed to nearby Lincoln for the Greeno/Dirksen Invitational co-hosted by Nebraska and Nebraska Wesleyan. The location will be Mahoney Golf Course on Saturday.
Kylahn Freiberg outkicked all GPAC/NAIA competition at the Augustana Twilight and was recognized as the GPAC Runner of the Week. Freiberg led the 23rd-ranked Bulldogs to a place finish of 10th out of 29 teams overall.
Kylahn Freiberg and Charlie Hayden led the way for Concordia as it opened the 2023 season at the Augustana Twilight on Sept. 1. The Bulldogs finished first among NAIA programs on the women's side and No. 2 in that category on the men's side.
For the fifth time in six years, Concordia Cross Country will open a season at the Augustana Twilight. The 2023 meet will get underway at 8:40 p.m. CT from Sioux Falls, S.D. Head Coach Matt Beisel begins year eight of his tenure.

The NAIA released their 2023 cross country national preseason poll on Thursday (Aug. 24) morning ranking the women No. 23 to start their 2023 campaign.
Expectations grow for the Bulldogs as the GPAC league office revealed the preseason cross country polls for both the men and women. The men and women garnered second in the polls while moving up from last season's preseason positioning.
For the third-straight year, Concordia Cross Country will ring in a new season at the Augustana University Twilight. That event on Sept. 1 will kick off a slate complete with six regular season outings in 2023.
As announced by the USTFCCCA on Jan. 26, both Bulldog squads have been recognized as All-Academic Teams and eight student-athletes have been honored as All-Academic Athletes.
