Bulldog dance team set for NAIA Midwest Regionals this weekend
The Concordia University dance team travels to Iowa this weekend for the NAIA Midwest Regional Competition. William Penn University hosts the event which is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. on Saturday. The Bulldogs will compete in the Small Dance Division.
Saturday’s competition will determine who attends this year’s national competition in Florida. Concordia must score a 75% or higher in their category to qualify for the national competition. Concordia’s routine will feature a combination of pom, hip hop and jazz.
The Concordia dance team is in its third year and is under the direction of Coach Daneen Kovar Theye. Seniors Maggie McGill and Amanda Flemmer lead a young but talented team that hopes for a return trip to Florida. Last year, in just the program’s second year of existence, the Bulldogs finished second at the NCA/NDA NAIA Invitational held in Florida.
“The members of the team have worked extremely hard at putting the finishing touches on the piece,” said Coach Kovar Theye. “I feel we have the ability to make a return trip to the NAIA Invite in Daytona Beach.”
