SEWARD, Neb. – Stars in the win over Dakota Wesleyan, senior defensive lineman Carson Fehlhafer and junior wide receiver Jonny Puelz were honored by the GPAC. On Monday (Sept. 15), the league office named Fehlhafer the GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Defensive Player of the Week and Puelz the GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Offensive Player of the Week. The Concordia University, Nebraska Football program has earned three GPAC weekly honors through two weeks of the 2025 season. Junior Terry Shebek picked up the GPAC honor for defense on Sept. 8.

A returning First Team All-GPAC honoree at nose guard, Fehlhafer wreaked havoc up front in the 27-22 victory over Dakota Wesleyan. The Centennial High School alum and Utica, Neb., native stuffed the stat sheet with 13 tackles, seven tackles for loss, four sacks and two blocked kicks (one field goal and one PAT). He was also credited with three quarterback hurries for a defense that limited the Tigers to 395 total yards. Fehlhafer also earned GPAC and NAIA National Defensive Player of the Week honors last season following the win at No. 2 Northwestern. On the season, Fehlhafer has produced nine tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks, figures that rank No. 1 among GPAC players. He is in his fourth year as a starter for the Bulldogs.

A Lincoln Lutheran High School graduate, Puelz enjoyed a breakout performance this past Saturday as he scored all three Bulldog touchdowns. Puelz burned Dakota Wesleyan with seven receptions for 176 yards. His touchdowns covered distances of 19, 49 and 72 yards, respectively. On the year, Puelz has totaled 10 catches for 196 yards and four touchdowns. He moved into a starting role this season in what is his second year as a Bulldog. The younger brother of Concordia alums in Josie Puelz and Josh Puelz, Jonny began his college career as a member of the Nebraska Wesleyan men’s basketball team.

Head Coach Patrick Daberkow’s squad has a bye this week. Up next on the slate will be a trip to Waldorf for a 1 p.m. CT kickoff on Saturday, Sept. 27.
