SEWARD, Neb. – Start the countdown to the 2023 Concordia University Football season. The program has announced a ’23 slate complete with 10 GPAC games. The new campaign will kick off versus defending NAIA national champion Northwestern on Sept. 2. Head Coach Patrick Daberkow’s squad will be at home for five contests and on the road for the remaining five.
Daberkow will enter his seventh season as head coach this fall. The Bulldogs are coming off a 4-6 overall record in 2022. Concordia will return All-GPAC honorees Michael Grindey (first team), Devon Polley (second team), Isiaha Conner (honorable mention), Luke Lang (honorable mention) and DJ McGarvie (honorable mention). McGarvie and the passing game took flight in 2022. The signal caller out of Lincoln North Star High School broke program single season passing records for completions (229), attempts (388), yards (2,553) and completion percentage (59.0).
It will be parents weekend when the Bulldogs welcome the Red Raiders to Bulldog Stadium. Other key dates include homecoming versus Dakota Wesleyan on Sept. 23 and senior day versus Doane on Nov. 4. The bye week will come following the seventh game of the regular season. In other in-state rivalry matchups, Concordia will be at Hastings on Oct. 14 and then host Midland on Oct. 28. The Bulldogs will travel to play defending GPAC champion Morningside on Oct. 7. As for the junior varsity schedule, the slate currently includes four matchups with in-state opponents.
All games can be heard live throughout the fall on 104.9 Max Country KTMX. Home games are streamed live via the Concordia Sports Network.
Fans of the Bulldogs can get an early look at the 2023 squad by attending Friday (April 28)’s spring scrimmage open to the public. It is scheduled to get underway at 6 p.m. CT from Bulldog Stadium.
