LINCOLN, Neb. – Seventy-one competitors were tasked with battling major wind gusts in Sunday (April 16)’s first round of the Howl at the Hill (Nebraska Wesleyan Invite) held at Hillcrest Country Club in Lincoln, Neb. Naturally, not a single player broke even par. Drew D’Ercole led the way for Concordia University Men’s Golf with an eight-over-par 80 as he attempts to chase down another top 10 tournament finish. As a team, the Bulldogs reside in third place with one round remaining.
Head Coach Brett Muller entered both an ‘A’ and a ‘B’ team into the field in Lincoln. The ‘A’ team shot a 326 in round one and is behind only Carleton College (309) and Southeast Community College (320) on the leaderboard. Meanwhile, Concordia’s ‘B’ grouping carded a 343.
Below is the list of individual scores carded by Bulldogs on Sunday. D’Ercole sits in a tie for 10th place with 11 golfers who equaled his 80. Next in line for Concordia are Jake Hagerbaumer (81) and Justin Webert (82). The Bulldogs entered the event with a team 18-hole season scoring average of 297.8. Concordia was coming off a win over Doane in the annual Bulldog-Tiger Cup that was renewed on Saturday at York Country Club.

Round two of the Nebraska Wesleyan Invite will get started at 9 a.m. CT (shotgun start) from Hillcrest on Monday. This is the team’s final event prior to the GPAC Championships (April 24-25) that will be held at The Bluffs Golf Course in Vermillion, S.D.
