GOODYEAR, Ariz. – The Concordia University Men’s Golf program has returned to Arizona for the first time since the spring of 2020. As part of day one (March 4) action at the Maverick Desert Classic hosted by Minnesota State University, Mankato, the Bulldogs carded a team score of 313 while navigating Palm Valley Golf Club in Goodyear, Ariz. Concordia is being joined at the two-day tournament by 10 competing institutions, including sister school Concordia University St. Paul.
Head Coach Brett Muller has traveled seven Bulldogs to the Phoenix area for competition against a field loaded with NCAA Division II participants. Concordia sits in 11th place out of 14 total groups with 18 holes left to play.
The consistently reliable Drew D’Ercole set the pace for the Bulldogs through the first 18 holes. He carded a two-over-par 74 on Monday and is currently tied for 14th place out of 93 individuals. Now more than 80 rounds deep into his collegiate career, D’Ercole led Concordia during the fall portion of the 2023-24 season with a scoring average of 74.0.
Midway through the Maverick Desert Classic, the rest of the Bulldogs’ top five features Justin Webert (75; T-20th), Jacob Dowd (77; T-33rd), Josh D’Ercole (81; T-67th) and Jake Richmond (83; T-83rd). Next in line are Jake Hagerbaumer (86; T-87th) and Brock Rogers (86; T-87th).
