YANKTON, S.D. – Sophomore Calvin Zabloudil made a serious run at his first career tournament victory before landing in a tie for third on the final Mount Marty Invite leaderboard. Zabloudil’s efforts helped lead Concordia University, Nebraska Men’s Golf to a fifth-place team finish. The Bulldogs dropped back two spots after sitting in third place at the conclusion of round one. The two-day (Aug. 31-Sept. 1) event featured 74 golfers from eight institutions and was contested at Hillcrest Country Club and Fox Run Golf Course.
Head Coach Brett Muller’s ‘A’ team shot 301-314–615 (+39) for the event. While Zabloudil came away with a flag in recognition of his lofty placement, sophomore Logan Krabbenhoft headlined the Concordia ‘B’ team and placed 13th.
“Monday was a good day for us, especially with the way we finished the round,” Muller said. “On our last four holes as a team – with our four counting scores – we played those at minus-five. Calvin finished his round birdying the last four, so that was a great end for him and really helped our team score. I wish we would have played a little better today. Calvin was leading the tournament through the first 11 holes today and had a couple bad breaks. It was a good start to the 2026-27 season.”
After ending his day on four birdies on Monday, Zabloudil carded three more birdies on Tuesday at Fox Run. The Gretna East High School product shot a two-under-par 70 on Monday, one stroke off a career low. When the action concluded on Tuesday, Zabloudil settled four strokes behind tournament champion Thomas Carroll of Morningside. The third-place finish marked the best for Zabloudil in his young collegiate career.
The ‘A’ lineup also featured a pair of top-20 finishers in senior Jude Elgert (76-79–155) and sophomore Tyler Weismann, both of whom shot identical scores and tied for 20th. The grouping was rounded out by freshman Wyatt Groves (79-81–160; T-41st) and sophomore Michael Koenig (98-84–182; 70th).
The Lincoln Southwest High School alum Krabbenhoft fired a consistent 76-76–152 for a B grouping that placed ninth. The B team played within three strokes of the A team in Tuesday’s round and shot 316-317–633 overall. The rest of the lineup was made up of senior Jacob Dowd (78-79–157; T-28th), freshman Dalton Kumm (83-79–162; T-48th) and sophomores Kamden Zomer (80-84–164; T-54th) and Charlie Summy (82-83–165; 58th).
Compared to the Mount Marty Invite a year ago, Concordia’s A team slashed 14 strokes off its two-round total. On the 2026 Mont Marty Invite team leaderboard. The Bulldogs beat out GPAC rivals Briar Cliff (620) and Dakota Wesleyan (625).
Competition for varsity spots will continue throughout the fall. Said Muller, “Looking at the 10 guys we traveled to this tournament, Calvin has kind of separated himself. We have a grouping there two through seven. It’s important to play well in tournaments to move up on our roster. You have to play well when you’re in the top five in order to hold onto a spot.”
Next up, the Bulldogs will co-host the Blue River Classic with Doane. The annual tournament is set for Sept. 9-10 at Highlands Golf Course in Lincoln, Neb. Concordia will enter its entire 16-man roster into the event.
