SIOUX CITY, Iowa – It came down to a battle between the top players in both lineups as host Briar Cliff ultimately outlasted the Concordia University, Nebraska Men’s Golf team on the second and final day of the Briar Cliff Match Play Tournament. The Charger No. 1 player held off Justin Webert in 21 holes as the Bulldogs were clipped, 3-2, with fifth place on the line on Friday (March 28). Concordia played a total of three matches as part of the event at Green Valley Golf Course in Sioux City, Iowa.
Head Coach Brett Muller’s squad went 1-1 on Thursday with a 3-2 loss to Dordt and a 3-2 win over Mount Marty. All eight teams in the field at the event played three head-to-head matches while putting their five best players up against the opposition’s top five.
From the Bulldogs’ perspective, senior Jaxson Fullerton enjoyed the most success as he emerged victorious in each of his three matches. In addition, junior Brock Rogers collected two wins and Jake Richmond and Jacob Dowd notched one apiece. After Rogers and Fullerton polished off their triumphs on Friday, it came down to the No. 1 spot in the lineup. Webert wound up being edged (1up) in extra holes.
