SEWARD, Neb. – It’s been a fine spring for senior Drew D’Ercole, who has added to his career profile with another honor. On Wednesday (April 19), the conference recognized D’Ercole as the GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Men’s Golfer of the Week. This marks the first time D’Ercole has picked up the golfer of the week award during his Concordia career. The award was handed out based on performances during the period of April 10-16.
Over the past week, D’Ercole has competed in three separate events. At the Midwest Spring National Invite on April 10-11, the Papillion, Neb., native shot a two-round score of 75-73–148 (+4) and placed in a tie for fourth out of 74 golfers (best among GPAC competitors). Then on April 15 at the cold and blustery Bulldog-Tiger Cup, D’Ercole led Concordia to a 10-8 win over Doane while winning his singles match. Most recently, D’Ercole shot 80-77–157 (+13) at the Howl at the Hill (Nebraska Wesleyan) this past Sunday-Monday and placed 15th in a field of 71 players. On the season, D’Ercole has placed in the top five of two tournaments and owns a team best 18-hole scoring average of 74.3 (18 rounds).
In his career, D'Ercole has twice been named Honorable Mention All-GPAC and is an NAIA Scholar-Athlete. He’s played 64 career collegiate rounds wearing navy blue with a career scoring average of 76.4. He’s earned eight top 10 tournament placements over four seasons.
Up next for Concordia Men’s Golf will be the 2023 GPAC Championships set for April 24-25 at The Bluffs Golf Course in Vermillion, S.D.
