HASTINGS, Neb. – Senior Jake Hagerbaumer has put himself in the running for a tournament title after equaling a career low round as part of action at the 2024 Nebraska Intercollegiate on picture perfect Friday (Oct. 4). The Concordia University Men’s Golf team is one of 10 Nebraska institutions represented at the annual event put on at Lochland Country Club in Hastings, Neb. The Bulldog group of five resides in eighth place with one round left to be contested.
Head Coach Brett Muller’s squad shot a score of 304 and stands 11 strokes behind tournament co-leaders Hastings and Midland. Five teams turned in scores below 300.
The Hooper, Neb., native Hagerbaumer will vie for the first tournament title of his career when the action picks back up on Saturday. He turned in a two-under-par 70 in Friday’s round and sits tied for first with four other players in a field of 50 competitors. Hagerbaumer also shot rounds of 70 at the Siouxland Invite in both 2021 and 2023. Hagerbaumer entered the tournament ranked second on the team with a season 18-hole average of 76.4.
Hagerbaumer was followed in the lineup by senior Justin Webert (75; T-17th), junior Jake Richmond (76; T-21st), senior Gavin Buttshaw (83; T-44th) and junior Brock Rogers (85; 49th). Webert has better positioned himself as compared to a year ago when he placed 29th (83-79–162) at the Nebraska Intercollegiate. Both Hagerbaumer and Richmond tied for 31st at this event in 2023.
From a team perspective, Concordia stands in front of North Platte Community College (322) and Central Community College (326). The Bulldogs are within shouting distance of the likes of Bellevue and Doane (tied for sixth at 300).
