LINCOLN, Neb. – Before the weather turns for the worse in the middle of the week, 68 golfers completed the two-round Doane Spring Invitational held in Lincoln on Monday and Tuesday (March 17-18). The Concordia University, Nebraska Men’s Golf ‘A’ grouping concluded the tournament in sixth place (out of 11 groups) while improving significantly on day two. Junior Jake Richmond made a run at a championship before landing in third place. The action was staged at Highlands Golf Course on Monday before shifting to Pioneers Golf Course on Tuesday.

Head Coach Brett Muller entered 11 Bulldogs into the field. His squads carded scores of 309-298–607 (‘A’ team) and 335-317–652 (‘B’ team). Concordia went up against GPAC rivals such as Doane, Hastings and Mount Marty and nearby Nebraska Wesleyan at the Doane Invite.

“We had more scores in the 70s today, which was good,” Muller said. “It was a little short of our expectations, especially with how we played on Monday at Highlands. I’m proud of the guys for bouncing back today a little bit. We just couldn’t put the finishing touches on the round. I’m proud of how Richie finished. He had two birdies in his last five holes to get back to even par and finish in third place. No complaints on the weather, especially for the middle of March.”
