LINCOLN, Neb. – A 295 in round two for the Concordia University, Nebraska Men’s Golf team left it with a positive takeaway from Wednesday (Sept. 9)’s action at the 11th annual Blue River Classic. Sophomores Tyler Weismann and Calvin Zabloudil both shot under par over their second spin around the home course, Highlands Golf Course in Lincoln, Neb. With 36 holes complete, the Bulldog ‘A’ grouping stands in 11th place out of 16.

All 16 members of Head Coach Brett Muller’s men’s golf program entered into a field that features 88 total players. Concordia and Doane annually serve as co-hosts of the Blue River Classic.

Muggy and overcast conditions (with light winds) greeted the field at Highlands on Wednesday morning. Unfortunately, the Bulldogs struggled out of the gates. The top Concordia grouping ultimately shot 313-295–608 (+32) for the day. The 295 put the Bulldogs just seven over par for round two and represented an 18-hole season in the early going of the fall.

A product of Gretna East High School, Zabloudil has hovered below par in two of his first four rounds this season. He shot 77-71–148 on Wednesday, landing him in a tie for 32nd place heading into the final 18 holes of the Blue River Classic. The Gibbon High School graduate Weismann trailed close behind (79-71–150) while equaling Zabloudil in round two. Notably in the second round, Zabloudil birdied four times and Weismann eagled back-to-back holes (10 and 11).

The remainder of the A lineup featured seniors Jude Elgert (79-75–154) and Jacob Dowd (79-78–157) and sophomore Logan Krabbenhoft (78-88–166). From the B squad, sophomore Michael Koenig shot the team’s third lowest score (76-77–153) of the day and will enter round three in tied for 50th.

Through two rounds, the leaders in the Blue River team standings are Indian Hills Community College (554), Southeast Community College (561), Nebraska Wesleyan University (564), Doane (568) and Morningside (573). Evan Monaghan leads the individual leaderboard at 65-66–131.
