Webert, Bulldogs improve in round two, look ahead to day two of Bent Tree Intercollegiate

COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa – There’s little margin for error in a tournament field loaded with strong junior college competition. As part of a 36-hole day one (Sept. 23) at the Bent Tree Intercollegiate hosted by Iowa Western Community College, the Concordia University Men’s Golf team carded a score of 323-312–635. The Bulldogs reside in ninth place out of the 10 groupings in competition at Bent Tree Golf Club in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

Head Coach Brett Muller’s squad has returned to action for its first varsity tournament since the Siouxland Invite back on Sept. 9-10. Concordia shot three teams rounds of 311 or lower at that particular event.

In Monday’s action, senior Justin Webert tightened up his game and shot 77-75–152 (+8) and stands in a tie for 23rd place out of 61 golfers. The 75 is one stroke off a season low for Webert, who headlined the group of six Bulldogs who made their way to Council Bluffs. Fellow senior Jake Hagerbaumer shot 80-77–157 and is tied for 36th place. The lineup also includes Jake Richmond, Jacob Dowd and Brock Rogers with Gavin Buttshaw competing as an individual. The Bent Tree Intercollegiate features competitors from five junior colleges, as well as GPAC foe Briar Cliff and former GPAC member Nebraska Wesleyan University. The Bulldogs will attempt to catch the likes o Briar Cliff (618) and Barton Community College (625) when play resumes.
