BEATRICE, Neb. – Junior Justin Webert made a push for a tournament title while leading the Concordia University Men’s Golf team to a third-place claim at the Southeast Community College Spring Invite. A total of 36 golfers powered through misty and chilly conditions at Beatrice Country Club in Beatrice, Neb., on Monday (April 1). The field included six Bulldogs, all of whom shot 78 or lower.
The SCC Spring Invite marked the third official varsity event of the spring for Head Coach Brett Muller’s squad. The team score of 304 placed Concordia third behind Morningside (298) and Southeast CC (299). The Bulldogs beat out conference rivals Hastings (315) and Doane (319).
The Lincoln Southwest High School alum Webert bounced back from the Graceland Invitational by carding a one-over-par 73 on Monday. Webert placed in a tie for second place, just one stroke behind Morningside’s Edgar Eriksson. Webert entered the day with a season scoring average of 76.1.
The other Bulldogs who factored into the team score were Drew D’Ercole (78; T-8th), Gavin McWhorter (77; T-12th) and Jake Hagerbaumer (78; T-16th). In addition, Brock Rogers carded a 77 and Jacob Dowd turned in a 78.
Webert has earned two of the team’s six top-five individual tournament finishes this season. D’Ercole has landed inside the top five three times and Jacob Woodmancy earned on top-five claim back in the fall.
