Bulldogs open GPAC Tournament at Northwestern
SEWARD, Neb. – The Concordia University men’s soccer team has received the sixth seed for the GPAC Tournament and will play third seed Northwestern College on Tuesday, Nov. 3. The quarterfinal tilt will begin at 7 p.m. in Orange City, Iowa.
Concordia, 9-6-2, 4-4-2 GPAC, is coming off a 10-1 victory over Mount Marty College on Saturday, Oct. 31. The Senior Night game featured seven different Bulldogs scoring at least one goal with sophomore Toby Down scoring his second hat trick of the season.
Northwestern College, 12-5-1, 7-2-1 GPAC, battled to a 0-1 loss against Midland University on Saturday, Oct. 31. The Raiders’ other conference loss was to the number one seed, Hastings who has not lost a GPAC competition this season.
In the last meeting of the Bulldogs and Red Raiders, Northwestern prevailed, 1-0 on their own turf. The lone goal was scored by Hartrick Tarr who is tied for the second most goals on the team.
In the GPAC, Conordia is ranked first in shots on goal per game (9.71), second in shots per game (19.71) and tied for second in total shutouts (6). Northwestern is ranked first in total shutouts (8), tied for second in goals allowed per game (1.06) and ranks third in assists per game (2.06).
Should Concordia be victorious in Orange City, the Bulldogs will go on to play the winner of the second seeded Midland and seventh seeded Dakota Wesleyan match on Saturday, Nov. 7. The time of the match is to be determined and will be played at the highest seed’s location.
