Bulldogs placed atop 2026 GPAC preseason poll; prepare for trip to Oklahoma

SEWARD, Neb. – In a close vote at the top, Concordia University, Nebraska Men’s Soccer emerged as the league favorite. The Bulldogs pulled in 91 points and four first-place votes and sat atop the 2026 GPAC Men’s Soccer Preseason Coaches’ Poll released by the conference office on Monday (Aug. 17). The rest of the top four includes Northwestern (88 points; four first-place votes), Morningside (82 points; three first-place votes) and Midland (73 points).

It will be a new era for Bulldog Men’s Soccer, which is guided by first-year Head Coach Bernie Ochoa, a Concordia Athletics Hall of Famer and former GPAC Player of the Year. Ochoa welcomed the 2026 team to campus on Aug. 4. The roster includes two returning GPAC All-Conference players in second teamer Hugo Garrote and honorable mention selection Michael Wyvill. They helped the 2025 team win the GPAC tournament title and advance to the second round of the national tournament.

The Bulldogs will open the 2026 season with a road trip to Oklahoma for matchups with University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (Aug. 20) and Mid-America Christian University (Aug. 22). Ochoa will make his home debut as head coach on Sept. 2 for an in-state clash with Bellevue University. The complete schedule can be found HERE.
