SEWARD, Neb. – For its exceptional work in the classroom, the Concordia University Men’s Soccer program has garnered the 2022-23 College Team Academic Award from the United Soccer Coaches, as announced on Wednesday (Aug. 16). The Bulldogs have been a regular yearly winner of the honor during Head Coach Jason Weides’ tenure. From last season’s team, eight Concordia student-athletes were recognized as NAIA Scholar-Athletes.
A total of 814 soccer teams (314 men, 500 women) posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher, thereby earning the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for the 2022-23 academic year. Of that total, 184 schools had both their men’s and women’s programs recognized.
Weides’ team posted a collective grade point average of 3.23 for the 2022-23 academic year. That GPA will also qualify the Bulldogs for NAIA Scholar-Team status (official announcement in mid-September).
A trio of Bulldogs from the 2022 GPAC tournament championship team pulled in Academic All-District accolades from College Sports Communicators: Max Bisinger, Iker Casanova and Carlos Orquiz.
