SEWARD, Neb. – Goalkeeper Nolan Fuelberth garnered this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports men's soccer Defensive Player of the Week by the league office on Tuesday (Sept. 26). Fuelberth, a sophomore from Lincoln, Neb., earned credit for the shutout in Concordia's 2-0 win over Dordt on Wednesday (Sept. 20). Nolan played the full game and grabbed three saves in the 90 minutes.
Late in the match versus Dordt, the goalkeeper earned his keep with most of his saves coming in the last 10 minutes, all in the second half. These saves kept breathing room for the Bulldog offense to be up more than one score for the majority of the game.
Fuelberth is 4-0 on the season, only allowing one goal and 0.25 goals against average. Both numbers are good enough to place him second best in the conference in those categories behind Morningside’s Timon Koerber. Nolan has a team high eight saves through nine games.
His role has grown exponentially, as he played in 43 minutes all of last season gaining two saves.
The Bulldogs will take on Midland (Sept. 27) in Bulldog Stadium and will go north to Dakota Wesleyan on Saturday (Sept. 30).
